Flat Rock, MI

Flat Rock is a city in Wayne and Monroe counties, Michigan, situated along the Huron River approximately thirty kilometers southwest of downtown Detroit. Originating as a Wyandot settlement known to early missionaries as Grosse Roche for its riverfront limestone outcroppings, the community of approximately 10,300 later attracted industrialist Henry Ford, who developed a hydroelectric plant using the river's water power. Public education is administered by Flat Rock Community Schools.
