Fort Belknap Agency, MT

Located along the Milk River in north-central Montana, Fort Belknap Agency serves as the administrative and cultural heart of the Fort Belknap Reservation. Around 1,500 people live in this quiet settlement, surrounded by sweeping prairie and wide river bottoms. Families generally send their kids to public schools just across the river in neighboring Harlem, while Aaniiih Nakoda College offers higher education and vocational programs right within the agency.

Because it functions as the headquarters for the Gros Ventre and Assiniboine nations, much of the community revolves around tribal government, local health services, and community gatherings.
