Franklin, KS

Located just north of Frontenac in southeast Kansas, Franklin is a quiet, tight-knit community of around 500 residents with deep roots in the region's coal-mining past. It offers peaceful small-town living alongside an incredible amount of local history. In 1921, Franklin served as the gathering place for the famous Amazon Army march, where thousands of women rallied across the coalfields in support of striking miners. Today, you can explore that heritage at the Miners Hall Museum right in town. For an afternoon walk, the historic Franklin Sidewalk offers a paved path running all the way to neighboring Arma, reflecting the enduring spirit of this Crawford County community.
