Fredericksburg CDP (Lebanon County), PA

Fredericksburg is an unincorporated census-designated place in Bethel Township, Lebanon County, with Interstate 78 along its northern edge, U.S. 22 along its southern edge, and Pennsylvania 343 leading south to Lebanon. The settlement began as Stumptown in 1755, named for Frederick Stump, and later became Fredericksburg. It sits in the German agricultural valley that shaped Lebanon County's early roads, villages, and churches. The highway triangle gives the present community a strong regional orientation, while Deep Run and Beach Run drain south into Elizabeth Run.

St. John's United Church of Christ carries the oldest local thread. Its congregation traces back to early eighteenth-century settlers, and a log church served Stumptown in the 1760s or 1770s; the church history also records community-wide schooling in a public building in 1844. The Fredericksburg Area-Kathryn Richard Memorial Library occupies a former church building on Main Street, and Fredericksburg Fireman's Park hosts Hinkelfest, an annual festival with food, crafts, games, and local organizations. Churches, library, fire park, and highways give this Lebanon Valley village a map that is still easy to read.
