About Freeland

Freeland is an incorporated borough in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, operating ten miles northeast of Hazleton atop Buck Mountain. Founded in 1870 as Birbeckville during the anthracite coal boom, the historic mountain ridge community of approximately 3,837 has its public K-12 education administered by the Hazleton Area School District for local students today.
