About Georgetown
Georgetown is a Kent County census-designated place on Maryland’s Upper Eastern Shore, near the Sassafras River at the county’s western edge. The 2020 Census counted 117 residents and 54 housing units. Route 213 is the area’s main line toward the river crossing into Cecil County, and Georgetown Cemetery Road turns off near the southern edge of town. The cemetery is a useful marker for the settlement’s scale and history: a named place organized around a highway, a river crossing, and a rural burial ground. Georgetown’s practical map runs along Route 213 between Galena and the Sassafras crossing.
