Glacier Colony, MT

Glacier Colony is a small Hutterite farming settlement in northern Montana, located about 18 miles north of Cut Bank near the Canadian border. Home to around 100 residents, the community sits in the open high plains of Glacier County, where the landscape is shaped by vast skies, rolling wheat fields, and working agricultural land. It offers a remote, quiet setting with plenty of space and uninterrupted prairie views.

Life in the colony is organized cooperatively, with about eighteen family households working together on livestock, dairy, and seasonal farming. The settlement handles much of its daily routine on-site, though Cut Bank serves as the primary hub for mail, medical care, groceries, and county school connections. It is a close-knit, productive agricultural community rooted in shared work and northern Montana’s rural rhythm.
