Kenilworth, NJ

Kenilworth has an unusually entertaining backstory. In the late 1890s, real estate promoters hyped a planned development called New Orange, pitching waterfront yacht clubs, lakes, and an opera house that never existed. The community incorporated as the Borough of Kenilworth in 1907 and grew into a down-to-earth suburban town. Covering just over two square miles, the borough features a walkable residential grid branching off its main street, the Boulevard. Commercial and light industrial properties sit closer to Michigan Avenue and the Garden State Parkway, while county parkland and the Rahway River frame the western border.
