Lake Zurich, IL

Lake Zurich is a northwest Chicago suburb in Lake County, Illinois, built around the lake that gives the village its name. The area was first settled by European-descended residents in the 1830s, and the lake was originally called Cedar Lake before later taking the Zurich name. Today the village has about twenty thousand residents and is served by Lake Zurich Community Unit School District 95. Its appeal is suburban but clearly shaped by water, local schools, and northwest-metro access.
