Lakeside town (Tarrant County), TX

Lakeside is an incorporated town in western Tarrant County, about eleven miles northwest of downtown Fort Worth on State Highway 199. Its name comes straight from the setting: the town sits along Lake Worth, with water, wooded shorelines, neighborhood streets, and the larger Fort Worth orbit all close together. The place is small enough to feel distinct, yet its daily routes lead naturally toward Fort Worth and the rest of the western county.

By 1960 Lakeside had incorporated and had a mayor and city council, giving the community its own municipal structure as the Lake Worth shoreline developed around it. The population grew from 651 in 1960 to 1,649 in 2020, with changes following the wider North Texas pattern. Today city government, State Highway 199, Lake Worth access, nearby parks and shoreline, and Fort Worth's jobs and services shape local life. Lakeside's character comes from that blend of a self-governing lake town and a close-in western suburb. Lake views remain part of the town's daily backdrop.
