Lily Lake, WI

Lily Lake is a Kenosha County census-designated place in the Town of Wheatland, built around an 88-acre lake whose formal name is Lilly Lake. The 2020 census counted 508 residents. The water is about 22 feet at its deepest, with a public boat landing and a shoreline shaped by cottages, fishing, swimming, and ice harvesting. Even the spelling carries local history: signs use Lily, while the formal lake name keeps Lilly.

Most of the community’s story follows the shore. The surrounding land was agricultural before cottages began appearing in the early twentieth century, and the Lily Lake Summerhaven Association formed as the lake community grew. A Boy Scout camp operated here in the 1920s, while current residents and the lake district keep watch over weeds, boat rules, and water conditions. Larger shopping and services connect through Wheatland, Burlington, and nearby Kenosha County roads. Lily Lake is a small lakeside place whose calendar and practical concerns still revolve around one named body of water.
