Lindon, UT

Lindon stretches across a scenic strip of Utah Valley, running from the marina on Utah Lake all the way up to the foothills of Mount Timpanogos. The town has a clear split in character. Down near Interstate 15 and State Street, you will find most of the commercial districts, local businesses, and office parks. Heading east toward the mountain, the scenery opens into quiet residential streets climbing toward the Dry Canyon trailheads. With around 12,000 residents, Lindon maintains a smaller, quieter footprint between larger neighbors like Orem and Pleasant Grove, so hopping across town borders for errands or dining is a normal part of everyday life.

The town's long shape dates back to pioneer days. In the 1860s, families built homes along the wagon road connecting Orem and Pleasant Grove, earning the settlement the early nickname String Town. Mail delivery began when postal carriers dropped letters in a tin can hung from a linden tree, giving the community its permanent name. Lindon still embraces its official motto, "A Little Bit of Country." While new residential subdivisions have filled in much of the valley, the city has preserved large lots, horse properties, and historic farmsteads alongside modern family homes.

Getting around the valley is convenient, especially with major routes nearby. Commuters rely on Interstate 15, Geneva Road, and State Street, keeping average drive times across Utah County around twenty minutes. When you want to leave the car behind, the paved Lindon Heritage Trail cuts across town for four and a half miles, linking neighborhoods, schools, and parks while passing safely under State Street. Cyclists and runners can also connect with the popular Murdock Canal Trail or head into the foothills to explore the Bonneville Shoreline and Dry Canyon routes.

Community activities gravitate toward City Center Park and the Lindon Aquatics Center, a summer favorite equipped with multiple pools, a lazy river, slides, and a surf simulator. Smaller neighborhood parks with ballfields, playgrounds, and pickleball courts are scattered across the residential areas. Each August, residents gather for Lindon Days, a weeklong celebration featuring a youth rodeo, car shows, outdoor movies, concerts, and fireworks. It adds up to a comfortable, small-town atmosphere set against a dramatic mountain backdrop.
