The Morton Arboretum gives Lisle a 1,700-acre institution that functions at once as a public garden, outdoor museum, research center, and major recreation destination. Its living collections contain more than 100,000 specimens representing over 4,000 kinds of plants. Visitors can use 16 miles of walking trails and nine miles of roads, explore the Children's Garden and Maze Garden, attend classes and seasonal exhibits, or consult the Sterling Morton Library. The grounds open daily from morning to sunset, though general admission is ticketed. That scale makes the arboretum part of the village's weekly routine as well as a regional attraction. Downtown Lisle pairs commuter transportation with a recurring street-level calendar. The accessible BNSF Metra station has two pedestrian tunnels and express trips that reach Chicago in about 36 minutes. Lisle recorded 24,223 residents in 2020 and had an estimated 23,432 in July 2025.
