About Lombard

The Peck House connects Lombard to the Underground Railroad: Sheldon and Harriet Peck settled on an 80-acre farm in 1837, and the National Park Service added their house to its Network to Freedom in 2011. The DuPage County village began as Babcock’s Grove, named for early settlers along the DuPage River, then took the name of a developer who laid out the community in 1868. Now a Chicago suburb, Lombard recorded 44,476 residents in the 2020 census. Its Lilac Festival and parade date to 1930, with the festival traditionally running for 16 days in May. Yorktown Center also serves as a hub for area bus routes.
