About Luna Pier

Luna Pier is a Monroe County city on Lake Erie, six miles north of the Ohio line, with Interstate 75 forming part of its western edge. The community was first known as Lakewood, and by 1926 its pier and lakefront dance hall had made it a summer stop reached by streetcar from Toledo. The crescent-shaped concrete pier still reaches into the lake, while the city incorporated in 1963. Luna Pier is a southeast Michigan place where a streetcar-era resort name became a shoreline city.
