Lyndonville, VT

Lyndonville sits along the Passumpsic River in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, with U.S. 5 running through the village and St. Johnsbury about eight miles south. The place has a couple of wonderfully specific traditions. In 1883 local trustees bought a hand fire engine from Franklin, New Hampshire, and the volunteers formed Tiger Fire Company No. 1; by 1889 they were showing up in parade uniforms. The Caledonia County Fair also has deep Lyndonville roots, with the Lyndon Community Fair Association forming in 1932. The village government merged into the Town of Lyndon in 2023, but the river, fire company, and fair still give the place its own local flavor.
