Mayer is a city in Carver County, Minnesota, situated along the South Fork of the Crow River. Originally established in 1875 under the name Helvetia and renamed in 1888 by railroad officials, the community of approximately 2,518 is served by the Watertown-Mayer Public School District for public primary and secondary education locally.
