Milltown, IN

Milltown is a small Indiana town spread across a county line: part of Whiskey Run Township in Crawford County and part of Blue River and Spencer townships in Harrison County. The town was laid out in 1839 and took its name from the mill that gave the settlement its first clear purpose. The 2020 census counted 790 residents. That two-county setting is part of what makes Milltown distinctive, with local roads and civic ties reaching in more than one direction.

Milltown sits in the Blue River country of southern Indiana, where wooded hills, water, and narrow valleys shape the approach to town. The name preserves a simple piece of working history: before the community was a line on a county map, a mill made this a useful place to gather and trade.
