About Minco

Minco is a Grady County city whose story starts seven miles east, where Silver City sat on the Chisholm Trail. In 1890, the railroad stopped at Minco, and Silver City's buildings and residents moved west to the new rail town. Minco incorporated in 1902 and became a shipping center for cattle, hogs, cotton, corn, and watermelons. The name comes from a Choctaw word for chief, and the city limits reach north to the Canadian River. Minco is an Oklahoma place built at the point where a cattle trail met the railroad.
