About Mobeetie

Mobeetie is a tiny community in the eastern Texas Panhandle with fewer than 100 residents. Known as the oldest town in the region, it got its start in the late 1870s near Fort Elliott and took its name from a Native American term meaning "sweet water." Today, life here is quiet and unhurried, defined by wide-open prairie, deep frontier history, and plenty of elbow room.
