Monett is the most populous city in Barry and Lawrence counties, Missouri, situated in the heart of the Ozarks. Developed as a railroad town along the St. Louis–San Francisco Railway in 1870, the industrial community of approximately 9,873 features the Downtown Monett Historic District. Public education is served by the Monett R-I School District.
