Monroe, IN

Monroe is an Adams County town in Washington and Monroe townships, Indiana. This is the Monroe near Berne and Decatur, not the larger Monroe County community in southern Indiana. The town was platted in 1847, incorporated in 1906, and named for James Monroe, the fifth president of the United States. The 2020 census counted 885 residents. Adams Central Community Schools is located in Monroe, tying the town to the surrounding farm communities.
