About New Fairview
New Fairview is a Wise County city that reaches into Denton County, north of the Dallas-Fort Worth core. The 2020 census counted 1,386 residents. It grew from a settlement called Illinois Community, used the name Fairview until 1999, and then added "New" to separate itself from the other Fairviews in Texas. Northwest and Decatur independent school districts divide the school map, a practical detail in a city spread across county lines. The first city park opened in Chisholm Hills in 2023. It covers seven acres with a pavilion, playground, picnic tables, and a quarter-mile trail, and it sits in the city's most populated area.
New Fairview's comprehensive plan also describes a landscape of large subdivisions, developer-provided neighborhood parks, and planned trail connections, so growth is visible in the way streets and open spaces are being assembled. New Fairview's local scoop is a young North Texas city where an old Illinois Community name, two school districts, and one new park mark the transition from settlement to suburb.
