About New Hartford Center
New Hartford Center is a Litchfield County CDP built around the village of New Hartford, the Pine Meadow Historic District, and the valley of the West Branch of the Farmington River. The historic district preserves much of the nineteenth-century village, while the river still runs through the center of town and shapes the local map. The CDP also reaches toward Lake McDonough and the East Branch of the Farmington River, so water is a constant part of the geography. New Hartford Center is in the New Hartford School District. The local shorthand is village streets, river valley, historic houses, and a Connecticut town center with a lot of water around it.
