About Pineville
Pineville is a suburban town at the southern edge of Mecklenburg County, just below Charlotte and close to the South Carolina line. Before incorporating in 1873, it was known as Morrow's Turnout, a crossroads tied to older Native American trading paths and early transportation routes. Pineville is best known historically for its connection to James K. Polk; the President James K. Polk State Historic Site sits on land once owned by his father. Today it mixes historic-town roots with Charlotte-area shopping, healthcare, and commuter access.
