Redding Center, CT

Redding Center is the central village and census-designated place in the Town of Redding, Fairfield County. The 2020 census counted 315 residents. Connecticut Route 107 runs through the village, with Cross Highway, Sanfordtown Road, Lonetown Road, and Hill Road meeting around the historic center. The town hall, Congregational Church, homes, and local roads give Redding Center a clear civic address, while Bethel, Danbury, and the rest of Fairfield County handle larger shopping, work, and medical trips.

The Redding Center Historic District covers about 55 acres and includes 39 contributing resources dating from 1767 to 1929. It is the crossroads of the town's earliest settlement and current road network, with older houses and civic buildings still arranged around the village center. Redding's wider community includes the Mark Twain Library, town schools, Joel Barlow High School, and rural roads through the surrounding hills. The village has a small population and carries the town's oldest public buildings and the everyday traffic between its neighborhoods.
