Rolling Meadows is a northwest Chicago suburb in Cook County, about 24 miles from the Loop. Its early history is tied to the Plum Grove area, Salt Creek, and farming families who settled there in the 1800s. The city has a practical suburban character, with schools, office buildings, and commercial activity mixed into a residential landscape. Parks are a meaningful part of local life as well: the Rolling Meadows Park District dates to 1958, and Salt Creek Rural Park District also serves parts of the community.
