Saddle Butte, MT

Saddle Butte is a Hill County census-designated place along the southeast edge of Havre, the county seat. The 2020 census counted 151 residents. The community lies about 3.5 miles from central Havre along Clear Creek Road and Bullhook Road, with open land around the homes and roads. Its name comes from Saddle Butte, a 3,143-foot peak in the eastern part of the CDP. The butte is the landmark that gives this small place its shape and its name.

Havre supplies the nearby county services and commercial center, while Saddle Butte remains a rural settlement with its own census boundary. The local map is mostly about the approach roads, the butte, and the transition from town edge to broad northern Montana country. That combination makes the place easy to locate even though it has no formal downtown: follow the roads southeast from Havre and look for the landform rising above the prairie.
