About Santa Clara
Santa Clara is a young Guadalupe County city on the edge of the San Antonio region, roughly 30 miles northeast of San Antonio and 15 miles west of Seguin. It incorporated in 1999, so its identity is less about a preserved old center than about a small municipality taking shape along North Santa Clara Road and the roads toward Marion, Schertz, and Seguin. The city’s development rules address residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural land uses as the community grows.
That gives Santa Clara a practical day-to-day rhythm: city hall handles utilities, permits, trash pickup, public works, and zoning, while Marion ISD and Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD serve different parts of the city. Civic activity runs through council meetings, planning and zoning, municipal court, and community events. City hall sits along Santa Clara Road. Santa Clara is a small city with a newer charter and a spread-out Central Texas setting, still defining how its local business and civic life will fit together.
