About Savage
Savage is a Howard County community with one of Maryland's more interesting mill-town cores. The area was settled around 1650, and the Savage Mill complex later produced sails for clipper ships sailing from Baltimore Harbor. Today the Savage Mill Historic District gives the community a clear landmark, with shops, old brick, and industrial architecture set beside suburban neighborhoods. Savage feels historic and tucked-away, with mill buildings, trails, the Little Patuxent River area, and Baltimore-Washington commuting all nearby.
