Scipio sits in Round Valley on the eastern edge of Millard County, where I-15 and U.S. 50 meet about halfway between central Utah's larger valley towns. Settlers arrived in 1859, first calling the place Round Valley and Graball before the town took the name Scipio Africanus Kenner, the lawyer who helped early residents secure legal title. The valley gives the town its shape: broad, dry, and ringed by mountains, with the interstate carrying travelers past a settlement that still serves the local farm country.

Scipio's current week has a small-town civic rhythm: town notices, council business, a volunteer fire department, and local services. Millard County's communities connect through I-15, while Yuba State Park lies about 12 miles southwest and is the nearest larger recreation draw.
