Sells, AZ

Located about sixty miles west of Tucson in Pima County, Sells serves as the capital and cultural heart of the Tohono O'odham Nation. The community sits in the wide-open expanse of the Sonoran Desert, framed by rugged mountain ranges like the sacred Baboquivari Peak rising to the east. Because the Nation's sovereign lands cover millions of acres reaching all the way south to Mexico, Sells acts as the central gathering place and civic anchor for communities across the desert.

Daily activity centers around the Sells Business Loop and the main tribal administration complex. This is where you find the Nation's executive offices, health services, and regional community programs. The town has a quiet, close-knit feel, and the local government and community agencies provide the primary jobs and services in the area. For residents from both Sells and smaller outlying villages, the central loop is the go-to spot for handling errands, visiting local clinics, and conducting tribal business.
