Somers, CT

Right along the Massachusetts border in northern Connecticut, Somers is a quiet, scenic town known for its rolling hills, open fields, and classic New England character. With a population of around 10,000 across the wider township, it offers plenty of space alongside a friendly, small-town atmosphere. Historic farmhouses and scenic country roads still define the area, and every September, neighbors gather for the Four-Town Fair, a cherished agricultural tradition running since 1838.

Day-to-day life centers on well-regarded public schools, local sports at Field Road Park, and plenty of opportunities to get outside. Hikers often head up into Shenipsit State Forest to take in the views from Soapstone Mountain, while the Scantic River provides quiet spots for walking and fishing. When you need city conveniences, major hospitals, or corporate offices, both Hartford and Springfield are within an easy commute via Interstate 91 and regional routes.
