Outdoor recreation centers around Sannauk Forest Preserve, a popular spot between Somonauk and neighboring Sandwich with wooded walking trails, picnic areas, and creek fishing. A scenic 1.5-mile limestone path runs from the village library straight into the preserve, making it simple to step out for an afternoon bike ride or walk. Just a few minutes down the road, Lake Holiday adds boating and lakeside living to the mix, giving newcomers plenty of ways to enjoy the outdoors.
