About South Elgin
South Elgin is a Kane County village in the Fox River Valley, west of Chicago. It was originally called Clintonville after early settler James Clinton, and its river setting still gives the community much of its local character. The Fox River Trolley Museum is the standout attraction, connecting the village to the region's transit history. South Elgin is served by school districts U-46 and 303, and today it feels like a growing suburb with a visible old river-town thread.
