Strawn, TX

Strawn is a quiet, close-knit community of about 500 people nestled in the rolling hills of Palo Pinto County, roughly 75 miles west of Fort Worth. Founded in 1880 as a stop along the Texas and Pacific Railway, the town offers wide-open spaces and an easygoing rural lifestyle. It is also famous across Texas for its beloved traditions, especially the powerhouse Strawn Greyhounds six-man football team and the legendary chicken-fried steak at Mary’s Cafe.

Daily life in Strawn is simple and community-focused. Local kids attend the small Strawn Independent School District, and neighbors often gather around the restored historic train depot downtown.
