Tolchester, often called Tolchester Beach, sits along the Chesapeake Bay in Kent County, just a few miles north of Rock Hall. Back in the late 1800s and early 1900s, it was one of the region's favorite summer getaways. Steamboats carried thousands of vacationers across the bay from Baltimore every weekend to enjoy the bathing beaches, rides, and dance pavilions, establishing a colorful resort tradition that lasted well into the 20th century before the park closed in 1962.

Today, Tolchester is a quiet, laid-back waterfront neighborhood where daily life revolves around boating and the bay.
