About Trego

Trego is a Lincoln County census-designated place spread through the Fortine Creek valley between the Tobacco River and Dickey Lake. The Fortin family were among the area’s first homesteaders, and the old Fort Steele–Kalispell Trail once ran along the Fortin Ranch; pieces of that route remain visible. Today Trego’s identity still comes with a lake, a backcountry road network, the Trego-Fortine-Stryker community hall, and annual heritage events. Trego is northwest Montana in a valley-and-trail arrangement, with water on both sides of the local story.
