About Watchung
Watchung is a Somerset County borough in the Watchung Mountains, with hills, lakes, and wooded residential areas giving it a more secluded feel than many New Jersey suburbs. George Washington used the Watchung ridge to observe British troops near Perth Amboy during the Revolutionary War, a reminder of the area's strategic geography. Students attend Watchung Borough Schools through eighth grade, and the borough is also home to Watchung Valley Golf Club. Watchung feels affluent, green, and quietly tucked above the busier Route 22 corridor.
