About Wauconda
Wauconda is a Lake County village centered on Bangs Lake. Elihu Hubbard built the first log cabin on the lake's bank in 1836, in a region also associated with Ho-Chunk presence and the Fox River landscape. Today Bangs Lake remains the village's best-known feature, supporting boating, fishing, lakefront homes, and a small downtown nearby. Wauconda feels like a northern Illinois lake town that became a suburb, with Chicago-area commuting layered over older resort and rural roots.
