Woodland, UT

Woodland sits at the southern tip of the Kamas Valley in Summit County, where the Provo River spreads across its floodplain. The 2020 census counted 375 residents. Hans Larsen was the first settler, and in 1864 he donated land for an LDS meetinghouse and helped build it. He called the place Woodland for the large timbers and railroad ties harvested nearby. That history still reads through the river valley and the community's relationship to the surrounding forest. The terrain supplies most of Woodland's orientation.

The Provo River occupies much of the low ground, so roads and homes sit within a small settlement at the valley's southern end. The river remains the settlement's most important physical boundary. South Summit School District connects Woodland to the wider Kamas-area school network, while nearby Kamas handles the larger set of services. The place has a clear rural geography: a small settlement, a river floodplain, and timber country meeting at the end of the valley.
